We saw one through the RSPB telescopes yesterday - wow! It's wonderful and rather moving to see such a beautiful, wild creature in the middle of our busiest city. And those nice RSPB people don't even charge for the privilege - although you'll probably feel like making a donation!

Hi, sorry for late response to this... I don't think that's right. I am aware of 'free' system activity happening currently. But you raise an interesting point about how mortgage companies view the systems, once installed (although there is a Land Registry process that should deal with this). I will make some enquiries...

just heard icis, british gas and pvsolar uk have suspended all installations of "free" systems due to mortgage companies (especially a big blue high st one) being awkward with offering mortgages on houses that have these 25 year rent my roof panels on.

reason being they are classing them as a business concern and therefroe part of the mortgage should be on a business rate. or some similar so even if the mortgage company that the original owner is with is fine with it and then decides to sell his house it could be an issue with the person who wants to buy the property's mortgage company.

If you were to buy the panels outright the issue would not arise as they would simply be part of the fixtures and fittings as oppossed to a sort of resident lodger, hope that makes sense anyone any comments?

Further to the biodiesel/cooking oil story: The city of Saskatoon, SK used fuel made from used cooking oil in some of their city transit bus fleet. The only real complaint, if I remember correctly, was the odour! Perhaps a partnership between a fast food chain and the London transit bus fleet could be a possiblity. By the way, the complaint was not about a foul odour but rather the smell of french fries/chips that made the people on the streets hungry.
