AS YOU will have noticed from the previous post, we’ve been on a hiatus here since February, during which time we’ve moved Home Zero Home to a new home sweet home… And, as you would naturally expect, we wanted to do it the zero carbon way as much as possible, but it turns out that green removals companies are very few and far between.
But, thankfully, there is Ois Removals Limited, based in London and owned and run by its eco-visionary managing director, Oisin Hoare.
The company uses only Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) vehicles – not like other so-called ‘green’ companies who use older diesel fleets – and its friendly team also collects for free all packaging materials for recycling after your move is complete. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the electricity for its storage warehouse is supplied by Ecotricity, which is from 100 per cent renewable sources, such as wind and solar power.
You can check out the company’s green credentials for yourself and Home Zero Home is happy to vouch that they live up to every word!
It’s good to see businesses like Ois Removals making a genuine effort to take advantage of the Green Economy, and it will be interesting to see how the UK’s new coalition political force drives forward new policies and legislation to encourage more entrepreneurs to focus efforts on saving energy and natural resources and reducing CO2 emissions.
At HZH, we would like to see more grant-based financial support for companies who operate in this way as an incentive and reward for making a positive environmental impact. They do exist to a degree, but how many SMEs have enough hours in the day to wade through mountains of bureaucracy and paperwork at a time when we are all focussed on trading as best as possible in the toughest financial climate ever?
Over to you David Cameron and Nick Clegg to get the green agenda properly sorted.
